Biography of Amilla Belle (born October
2, 1986) is an American actress. Her works include The Ballad of Jack and
Rose, When a Stranger Calls, 10,000 BC, The Quiet, Push,
andBreakaway.
Early life[edit]
Belle was born as Camilla Belle Routh in Los
Angeles, California. Her mother, Cristina Gould, is a Brazilian-born
fashion designer and her father, Jack Wesley Routh, owns a construction company
and was a composer of country music.[1] Belle was raised in a
Catholic household. She attended St. Paul's Catholic Elementary School[2] and
then theMarlborough School, an all-girl high school in Los Angeles.[2]
Career[edit]
She made her professional debut in a print ad at nine
months. At age five she was cast as a lead in her first film, NBC's
thriller, Trapped Beneath the Earth.[3] Belle began her career with a
small role in the film production of the novel A Little Princess starring Liesel
Matthews. Her first lead role was in Rip Girls in 2000, a Disney
Channel original movie. She returned to performing after a short break with the
lead role in the remake of When A Stranger Calls. Her next role was in the
feature film 10,000 BC, directed by Roland Emmerich, a film about
prehistoric humans. Belle's next big release was playing the role of Kira
Hollis in Push,[4] a sci-fi thriller involving a group of
super-powered youths, hiding from a clandestine U.S. government agency.
In 1998, she played Aubrey Shepard on the Focus on the
Family radio drama Adventures in Odyssey.
Following a turn as Steven Seagal's daughter in The
Patriot (1998), she earned a 1999 Youth in Film Young Artist Award
nomination for her portrayal of Sandra Bullock's character as a girl in Practical
Magic (1998), as well as another nomination the same year for her guest
appearance on the TV series Walker: Texas Ranger. She received her third
and fourth Young Artist Award nominations respectively for the telefilm Replacing
Dad (1999) and for her role in the Disney Channel TV Movie Rip Girls (2000).
In 2010, she appeared in Breakaway with Vinay Virmani directed
by Robert Lieberman.[5]

In October 2008, Belle began a relationship with Joe
Jonas after starring in his band's music video for the song
"Lovebug".[6] In late July 2009, Belle and Jonas ended their
relationship.[7]

original movie, "Rip Girls", earned Belle a Young Artist acting
nomination.
n 2005, Belle starred in the film The Ballad of Jack and
Rose, playing the daughter of Daniel Day-Lewis' character. The film only
received a limited theatrical release, but Belle was labeled an
"impressive newcomer" by film critic James Berardinelli. The film was
her first in nearly four years. Belle's role as Rose also earned her the Gotham
Award nomination for the Breakthrough Award. The same year, Belle also had a
major role in The Chumscrubber, which received only a brief and limited
theatrical release.
Belle was subsequently cast in the lead role in Screen Gems'
horror film remake, When a Stranger Calls. The film was released on February 3,
2006 and was considered successful at the United States box office, grossing
over $45 million after an opening of over $21 million. A sequel to When A
Stranger Calls has been confirmed but according to rumors Camilla has been
replaced by Heroes actress Hayden Panettiere. The sequel is expected to be
released sometime in 2009 or 2010. Later in 2006, she acted opposite Elisha
Cuthbert and Edie Falco in The Quiet.
n the spring of 2006 the Warner Bros. film, 10,000 BC, a
prehistoric epic directed by Roland Emmerich began production, with Belle as
the lead female role. Filmed in New Zealand, South Africa and Namibia the film
was released March 7, 2008. Belle also stars alongside actors Chris Evans and
Djimoun Hounsou in the 2008 thriller, Push.
